Watching the sunrise in La Cala is an unforgettable experience for visitors

Watching the sunrise in La Cala in spring is one of the great pleasures that every visitor should experience. The fresh sea breeze, the first rays of sunshine of the day and the silence invite you to look for the beautiful corners of this small bay. It is a relaxed moment that contrasts with the hustle and bustle that will take over the streets in a few hours. The stillness allows nature to take centre stage. Suddenly, it comes into the foreground and can be appreciated in all its splendour. The green of the pine trees, which are scattered among the silhouettes of the apartment buildings, takes on such an intensity that it is surprising that until then it would have gone unnoticed. The same could be said of the grey stones, invisible throughout the rest of the day, but with the first light of dawn they take on metallic shades that inevitably catch your attention.

This is the prize with which nature surprises early bird tourists: La Cala at its most intimate and genuine moment, La Cala that best conveys the sensation of harmony. Hardly anyone is here yet. A couple of friends in a corner of the beach muse about what they are going to do during the day, a neighbour walks his dog along the shore and two or three other people admire the tranquillity of the sea from a bench. All is calm. All is silent still. And all is blue. The immensity of the sea, seen from every angle. The Isla de los Periodistas island in one corner and a small boat in the other. Static. Immobile. Nothing can alter this small instant because it is known to be ephemeral.

A few hours after the first rays of sunlight cast across the sea, this corner of Finestrat begins to wake up. The waiters in the bars and cafés begin to set up the chairs and tables on the terraces overlooking the beach. The first delivery trucks begin to appear. Gradually, the first tourists arrive, laying their towels on the sand. And as the minutes go by, La Cala that we all remember in our memories emerges: the bustling and vibrant one. The one that is always moving.
