One more weekend, Finestrat offers a complete and wide range of leisure-cultural activities. It will start this Friday, October 18, with an interesting conference on Fondillón, a sweet and unique wine, which is considered a jewel of the wine heritage in Spain, especially in the province of Alicante. For Saturday 19 there is a Zombie Gymkhana organized in the streets of the old town. It will be from 11:00 p.m. and will last about five hours. The final point will be on Sunday 20 the National Dog Contest, which will be held in the La Cala car park. More than 100 specimens will participate and the demonstrations will begin at 11:00 a.m.

The expert oenologist Rafael Poveda will be in charge of giving the lecture "Sips of fondillón" this Friday at the Museu de Finestrat, located in the old Font de Carré park, which is currently called "Alcalde Miguel Llorca". It will be from 7:00 p.m. when the well-versed speaker will tell the rich history of this wine that dates back several centuries, being, therefore, one of the oldest wines in Spain and, as a curious fact, one of the only ones mentioned by the great Shakespeare in his work. During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries it was highly appreciated in the European courts. Today it is protected by the Denomination of Origin of Alicante, which guarantees its authenticity and quality.

Saturday, October 19 will be the prelude to the Halloween party. The streets of the old town will be populated with zombies from 11:00 p.m. In this survival gymkhana, fun, adrenaline, teamwork and challenges are guaranteed. Five hours for more than five tests with role-playing and strategy games. This activity is aimed at young people who are over 14 years old, and those who have not completed them, can participate in the company of an adult. The end of this very complete weekend will be the National Dog Contest, which will be held in the parking lot of La Cala this Sunday, October 20, and is organized by the Canine Society of Alicante. More than 100 specimens will participate, registered in the LOE or RRC or in the Fedèration Cynologique Internationale, in the case of dogs with foreign pedigree. They can also participate in the popular modality if they do not belong to these entities. As in each contest, different judges will assess the canine morphology in relation to the recognized standard: breed category, by age and by sex. Among the prizes there will be Best Children's Presenter, Best Youth Presenter, Best Specimen of the Region, Couples, Breeding Groups, B.I.S Puppies, B.I.S. Young or B.I.S. Spanish breeds.
