The celebration of the 744th anniversary of the Carta Pobla is the historical event par excellence that is celebrated in the town of Finestrat. This historical document signified the conquest of the Christians, led by King Pedro III, son of the great James I, over the Almohads, who until then held power and land. With this victory, the political change is confirmed, which is reflected in what is known as the Carta Pobla, and not its birth as a municipality, which is prior to its charter of settlement. This transfer was personalized in the figure of the feudal lord Ibáñez Oriola.

For the last quarter of a century, the granting of the Carta Pobla has been celebrated. This Saturday, May 11, will be the events that will take place in Carrer Nou and Plaça del Poble.

Programming:

The institutional event will begin at 12:00 noon with an exhibition of traditional dances along Carrer Nou.tags.

At 12:30 p.m., in the Plaça del Poble, the program of events will continue with the presentation of the Golden Shield to the athletes and Taekwondo champions Violeta Díaz González and Jairo Agenio Trigos.

Afterwards, six students from the Puig Campana and Balcó de Finestrat public schools will read the Carta Pobla.

At the end of the institutional event, the Popular Bar will be opened, organized by the El Bak Festes Commission, where you can taste typical tapas of the gastronomy of Finestrat at popular prices.

From 4:00 p.m . the little ones will be able to take part in children's workshops and, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., three Finestrat DJs will liven up the afternoon.
