Finestrat participates in the 4th Meeting of Managers of Destinos Turísticos Inteligentes, the Spanish model of smart tourist destinations
Finestrat participated in the 4th Meeting of Managers of Destinos Turísticos Inteligentes Network (DTI, the Spanish model of smart tourist destinations) held in the city of Gijón. The 175 managers who attended the meeting were able to exchange knowledge and experience and share their concerns about the work carried out in their territories. Over the course of these three days, the participants were able to work on the functionalities of the Smart Destination Platform, the new data sources, the different knowledge products developed in the context of the DTI Network, the new DTI Regulations and protocol, the diagnostic processes, monitoring and management systems.
These days were very intense during which Finestrat worked closely with other national tourist destinations such as the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Benidorm, Tenerife, Valencia, Mallorca, Lloret del Mar, Salou and San Sebastián. The roundtables addressed issues of particular importance such as innovative public procurement and the importance of certification in tourism, as well as various working dynamics linked to the smart destinations model.
Finestrat joined the national network in April 2019 and actively participates in all actions carried out by the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism. The DTI Network is an integrating instrument in which all destinations that have initiated the process to distinguish themselves as DTI are represented, as well as other essential stakeholders, from the different levels of public administrations involved, to the private and academic sector. In short, all those whose knowledge and field of work can contribute value to the development of DTI.
In order to become a Destino Turístico Inteligente, the destination must be innovative, have an advanced technological infrastructure, guarantee sustainable development in the tourist area and improve the integration and interaction of tourists with the environment. Smart tourism or DTI is defined as the dynamic connection of human experiences with smart technologies. It is linked to Artificial Intelligence.
