Delegations from the municipality of Finestrat have participated this week in two different meetings to improve and continue walking the path of sustainability and care for the environment. Both have been focused on these matters, although the VI Meeting of Managers of the Segitur Smart Destinations Network, held in Tenerife, was entirely dedicated to tourism, while the I European Congress of the Ed.U.Co Project, held in the Italian city of Siena, was aimed at young people, as well as the need to promote education and work in favor of an ecological and sustainable culture. respect for Nature.

Technicians from the Department of Tourism have participated once again in the VI Meeting of Managers of the Segitur Smart Destinations Network and have presented their experience in the execution of the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, for which this town in the Marina Baixa received three million euros from the Next Generation European Funds. The objective of these meetings is to share experiences with other tourist destinations and use synergies to improve and position the municipality as a sustainable destination that continues to implement the tourism intelligence model to achieve a better visitor experience and improve the quality of life of the resident.

The meeting in the city of Siena, which was led by the Mayor of Finestrat, accompanied by the Councilor for Tourism, is the first stop of the program entitled "Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values" that will take place in eight European destinations, including Finestrat, from June 3 to 6, throughout 2024 and which aims to establish an environmental educational urban community that serves as a European network in order to collaborate on sustainable solutions to climate and environmental problems.
