La Cala is a family-friendly beach with access ramps and a children's playground
La Cala de Finestrat beach already has all the facilities you need for a fabulous experience. On these extremely hot days, this small bay, with about 270 metres of fine sand and crystal-clear waters, becomes the ideal spot for cooling off and enjoying the summer. Given the high temperatures, sunscreen is recommended, as well as keeping well hydrated and not going out in the sun in the middle of the day.
The cove is an accessible beach, with ramps for wheelchair access, plus, the lifeguards, who are on duty from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., have amphibious chairs for anyone with mobility difficulties who would like to swim. The public children's playground is free of charge, with canopies for plenty of shade, play castles and slides. It has wooden chaning tables inside the beach and next to the footbaths, and you can also use the public toilets, located on the promenade area. Plus, as smoking is prohibited, this is a smoke-free area.
This year, the Tourist Office has moved closer to bathers. It’s now located in the car park, just a few metres from the promenade and the beach, where tourists can find information on any subject they need: bus and tram timetables, maps, restaurants, shops, leisure activities, etc.
Given the high temperatures, it’s wise to take certain precautions, such as avoiding direct exposure to the sun between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m., using the right sunscreen, protecting the elderly, the sick and children, seeking out cool, shady places, drinking plenty of water and exercising when it’s cooler.
