La Trobada de la Cançó de la Mar is celebrating its first quarter of a century in La Cala de Finestrat
This Saturday 22nd July marks the XXV Trobada de la Cançó de la Mar. Over the last 25 years, several choral groups have been joining forces in La Cala de Finestrat, bringing joy to all enthusiasts of these songs of the sea, and this year’s event will take place in the Plaça de l'Àmfora at 10:00 p.m. The Unión Musical de Sella Choir, the Agrupación Coral de Orba and the Agrupación Coral de Finestrat will be providing the entertainment for this particular summer evening by the sea, with a finale courtesy of all the choirs, performing the “Salve Marinera” in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, Patron Saint of Sailors.
The organiser of the festival, the Agrupación Coral de Finestrat is now 26 years old. This Saturday, the group will be performing again, singing "Esa será mi casa", by Álvaro Sebastián; "Cartas amarillas", by Juan Carlos Calderón; "Gwendolyne", by Julio Iglesias and "Mi Tierra", by Augusto Algueró.
The Choir de Orba was founded in 1987 by its first conductor, Vicent Berenguer Llopis. The pieces they will be performing are "El abanico. Habanera", by J. Trayter; "Córtame una rosa blanca", by Dante Andreo; "Nerea Izango Zen", by Javier Busto and "Ja ve Cento", by J.R. Gil Tárrega.
The Choir de la Unión Musical L'Aurora de Sella gave their first performance in the summer of 2007 and will be performing the following programme: "Quiéreme siempre. Los cinco latinos", arranged by Juan Carlos Vázquez; "El taller de Sella. Popular", arranged by Alba Asensi Suite; "Suite veraniega", by José Bernardo Álvarez, and "Volver", by Gardel.
