Plaça de la Torreta, a pretty corner with colourful houses and Mediterranean gardens
The last days of August give way to a milder temperature and late summer storms arrive to break the monotonous trend of Saharan air and heat. This is the ideal time to take walks once again and enjoy the old town of Finestrat. Stroll through its streets, admire its little squares and stop to take a souvenir photo for the album. Today we suggest you visit Plaça de la Torreta, with its picturesque houses in earthy colours as well as pink, yellow and white, its cobbled streets and small gardens with roses, geraniums, palms, lady of the night and jasmine. A pleasure for the senses.
Sant Bertomeu church presides over this charming corner. Over the centuries, its steps have witnessed all the important family events experienced by the residents of this lovely town, and they continue to do the same today. The church has a plain façade topped by an undulating band and with no decoration, typical of the Neoclassical style. The church's main feature is its bell tower, which isn't very tall but stands out amongst the surrounding houses and is visible to visitors coming along the road from the Sierra Aitana and the mountain towns.
