Recommendations to take care of the mountain when going hiking
From autumn until the heat returns, hiking in the mountains is one of the favourite activities that are carried out, both by residents and visitors. Given that the influx is constant, it is very important that a series of recommendations are taken into account to take care of the environment and be respectful of the animals that populate it. It would be desirable to follow these tips:
.- Always choose marked trails; Do not stray to avoid damaging vegetation and fauna.
.- Observe the few animals that are from a prudent distance so as not to disturb them. Do not offer them food so that they do not alter their eating habits.
.- Collect the waste generated. Bring bags to collect waste and any trash you find.
.- Do not light a fire. Don't leave forgotten glass bottles that can act as magnifying glasses and cause a wildfire. Avoid smoking and, if you do, extinguish the cigarette butt and pick it up.
.- If you are accompanied by an animal, use a leash.
.- Avoid soil erosion as much as possible. Don't ride the trails with bicycles, don't run.
.- Don't take souvenirs with you: fossils, stones, pine cones, flowers...
.- If you want to pick a plant for its medicinal properties. Cut it with scissors and don't pull it out by the roots, as you would be fleecing it. You should cut back just enough so that the remaining plant can recover.
.- Be very attentive if you are accompanied by children, as there are very toxic plants/trees.
.- Try to go in small groups
.- Avoid making excessive noise. Don't shout.
.- Do not uproot plants or flowers
.- Participate in cleaning activities. Contribute with donations to organizations that work in the care of the mountain.
