The night of Sant Joan de La Cala declared a Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest
The traditional "Night of San Juan" in Cala de Finestrat has been awarded the honorary title of “Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest of the Region of Valencia,” a distinction acknowledging both the popularity and deep-rooted significance of the fiesta. On this magical night, the town’s residents and visitors set up their tables and chairs on the beach to enjoy an open-air dinner. The music and festive atmosphere are the stars of the show, along with the midnight swim and making of wishes.
The honour also highlights the public significance of the celebration, its capacity to attract visitors and, consequently, its promotion of La Cala as a tourist destination. Other aspects that have been considered are its cultural and festive-recreational values, as well as the fiesta’s age, going back two decades.
The Directorate General for Tourism has been entrusted with informing the Town Council of its decision, by means of a resolution accepting an application submitted by the town last April. The resolution also orders the declaration to be recorded in the Special Register of Festivals, Itineraries, Publications and Audiovisual Works of Tourist Interest of the Valencian Community and Audiovisual Works of Tourist Interest of the Region of Valencia.
All set for the Night of San Juan 2023
Finestrat Town Hall is already putting the final touches to its preparations for this "Nit de Sant Joan" in Cala de Finestrat on Friday, 23rd June. The events are scheduled to begin at around 17:30 with a Zumba session, children's disco, live music and a mobile disco. There will also be a public bar, provided by the Cominissió de Festes Mini Tofols 2023, and of course, the break at midnight to jump the waves and make some wishes on this magical night.
