Work is already underway on decorating the streets of Finestrat's old town to host the 7th edition of the Traditional Food Market (Mercat Gastronòmic i Tradicional), which takes place this weekend. During these two days everything is hustle and bustle along Carrer Nou, Plaça de l'Ajuntament, Plaça del Poble, Carrer Carnisseria, Carrer Fonteta and Carrer Castellets. The decorations, the artisan stalls, the stallholders' clothing and the activities all take the town back to past centuries, turning this small old quarter into a medieval village where you can watch demonstrations of traditional crafts from this period in history.

The event will start on Saturday at 10:15 in the morning. From then on, all the craft and gastronomy stalls will be open to welcome the hundreds of visitors expected to gather in Finestrat over the following forty-eight hours. The municipal proclamation will take place at 12:00 noon, marking the official opening of the 7th edition of this Traditional Food Market. Music will accompany everything that happens over the course of these two days. There'll also be a wide range of workshops on themes like children’s crafts, tattoos, bread making, chocolate bars, almond and orange biscuits and making traditional local products like coca girà, a savoury pastry. You can also learn about ancient crafts as there'll be demonstrations of ironwork, pottery making, esparto grass weaving, stonemasonry, glass blowing and silversmithing.

The geese parade, held on Saturday and Sunday at 12:15 pm, is one of the events that children look forward to the most. It won't be the only one. During these two days, you can listen to storytellers in the various streets where the market is set up, the band will be parading through the streets and there'll be itinerant music performances by the Muixeranga d'Alacant, Cremallera Teatres, Turbion and Alan Nik. On Saturday at 7:30 pm, Calm the Rage will be performing in Carrer Castellets. The fire show in Plaça del Poble will mark the end to each of the market days.

The Traditional Food Market is a major tourism promotion tool for the historic centre of Finestrat. Plus, during the two days the market is open, visitors will have the chance to join one of the “Descubre Finestrat” (Discover Finestrat) guided tours. Anyone interested in learning more about the town's streets and its history will be welcome to join the tour leaving the Tourist Office in Plaça del Poble on Saturday at 5:30 pm and on Sunday in the same location at 11:00 am. Fun is guaranteed in Finestrat's old town all through this weekend.

If you come with your own vehicle you can park in the sports complex area and from there you can take the shuttle bus to the Market.
