Walk the Puig Campana at sunset in late summer
Fans of hiking are in luck: the Nocturna Trail Faldes del Puig Campana is back on September 23rd. The experience of walking through one of Alicante's most iconic mountains is especially popular with nature lovers. In fact, this is the fourth year that the event has been organised, and with each year, more and more people are signing up to take part. The activity is aimed at the general public, so you don't have to be a member of a federation, and minors can also take part, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The registration period is now open and needs to be completed on the website www.mychip.es before 20th September.
Walking the mountain at dusk provides a completely different perspective. They are the same paths, the same vegetation, but everything feels different, hence the success of this new form of Trail and hiking on the Puig Campana. There are two ways to take part: as runners, covering a distance of 16 kilometres, with a positive difference in altitude of 900 metres, i.e., medium difficulty, and as hikers, with Sprint Trail, which has a 9-kilometre, non-competitive route and a difference in altitude of some 600 metres.
The starting point will be at the Plaza de l'Unió Europea, in the old town, at 20:30, and the route around Puig Campana will pass through the Font del Molí, Collado, Ciprerets, Collado Pouet, Foia de Cac and Cova del Cremat, among other places. The hiking and Sprint Trail will cross l'Alqueria, the Corral de Suay, the Cova del Roget and the Foia de Cac. On each route there will be refreshments both during the race and at the finishing line.
The event is organised by the C.E. El Portell, with the collaboration of the Sports Department of Finestrat Town Council.
