A stroll through Finestrat's squares, another way to visit the town at the weekend.

A stroll through Finestrat's squares, another way to visit the town at the weekend.

Finestrat's squares are charming. Almost all of them are in the old town. La Cala only has one square, Plaza del Ánfora, and its extraordinary beauty makes it unique. Visiting these spots is a good option for sightseeing during these autumn weekends. The pleasant temperature, accompanied by the nostalgia that characterises this time of year, make it the perfect place to stroll and photograph small details that you will remember for years to come.

The squares in the old town are listed below:

* Plaça de la Unió Europea: It is located at the entrance to the old town, just above the underground car park and next to the Culture Centre.

* Plaça del Poble: It is located in the heart of Finestrat's old town and is the link between the streets Carrer Nou and Carrer Major. The façade of Sant Bertomeu Church overlooks this square and is decorated with a mural made by Fine Arts students.

* La Placeta: You will find it walking down from the Town Hall and it's very small.

* Plaza del Antiguo Ayuntamiento: This is a relatively new square which was built following the demolition of the old town hall. It has very nice cobblestones and is one of the stops on the “Descubre Finestrat” (Discover Finestrat) route.

* La Glorieta: It is located opposite the Puig Campana public school and is characterised by a cross. It is a crossroads. It has been restored.

* La Fonteta: It is a small square just off the main road. It is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat in one of the nearby restaurants.

* La Torreta: This is where the church's main entrance is located. The Town Hall also has an entrance from this square. It is in the heart of the old town and the Fine Arts students have sculpted chairs that invite you to sit and observe the beautiful surroundings.

In La Cala:

* Plaça de la Mel: It is popularly known as Plaza del Ánfora because there used to be a building with the same name here. When the building was demolished, this square was built. It boasts spectacular sea views. It is a great place to take a break, enjoy the scenery and have a snack at one of the many bars and restaurants in the area.
