An extraordinary exhibition on the life of geisha and the Japanese countryside can be seen at the Museu de Finestrat
A new exhibition can be seen front ths Friday, March8, at the Museu de Finestrat. It is an exhibition of great beauty that brngs together the extraordinary work carreid out by its authors: Aránzazu Martín and Paloma Cano. "Rice Fields and the Secret Worold of the Gheisha" is composed of more than 30 works, 27 embroideries and 7 drawings, nspired by the daily life of geisha. It can be visited until the 28th of this month.
Geisha's prints are drawings drawn in graphite and polycrome pencils and, to make them, methods of transposition of coordinates based on points have been used, with the aim of a perceptible image, even bein photographic.
For embroidery, an ancient Japanese technique called "Sashiko" has been used, which was originally used by the rural classes in order to maintain the fabrics from generation to generation. The method consisted of mending the old clothes, at the same time embellishing them with this type of stitching based on bastille stitch. This embroidery structure was functional to the extreme, as its structure even served as a insulator from cold and fire. In fact, the firefighter suists have been made with th Sashilo system.
Mre than 1250 hours have been invested by the authors in making all the material that is exhibited this month at the Museu de finestrat. The result allows you to enjoy two of the most representative element of Japanese culture, such as its traditional embroidery and the secret wotld of the Geisha. beauty lies in the simplicity of his works and, in all of ther, he connects with the values of agrarian culture and love for nature.
