Finestrat celebrates a new edition of the KM Vertical Puig Campana on the last Sunday of April
Finestrat is preparing to celebrate the 15th edition of the Puig Campana Vertical Kilometer on the last Sunday of this month of April. On the 28th, the Spanish Club Championship, the Regional Championship and the World Cup of the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) will be held, within its Open Championship circuit. Registration will be open until Monday 22nd and the race will be limited to 400 participants. This competition is organized by the Department of Sports, the Challenge 8000 Mountain Club and the Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing of the Valencian Community.
The Puig Campana will once again be placed at the top of the national and international calendar of vertical kilometres, with the exclusive peculiarity of this mountain residing in the state panorama in which the runners save a distance of 3.6 kilometres, with a positive slope of 1050 metres and a short distance from the sea. These characteristics attract, in addition to Spanish athletes, runners from all corners of the world, together with the fact that in this edition Finestrat will be the stop on the Vertical Kilometer Open Championship circuit".
The 15th edition will be held on the last Sunday of the month, starting from the Plaça de la Unió Europea at 8:30 am. Up to the Font Molí there will be a neutralized start every five minutes and in groups of 10 runners. From this point, the individual exit will be given every 30 seconds. In the Font del Molí there will be a time trial that will mark the start of the KV to the top, with 3 km 650 meters and 1020 meters of positive elevation gain. The finish line is located at the top of Puig Campana. The descent will be along the botanical path of the Umbria del Puig Campana to the Coll de Pouet, along the path of the Camí de la Serra until reaching the Font del Molí and, back, to the Plaça de la Unió Europea. A total of 13.7 kilometres.
Up to 4000 euros in cash will be the amount of the prize, which will be distributed in the different absolute categories of the clubs. The biggest bonus will be 1000 euros for the first, the second will be awarded 600 euros and the remaining 400 will be for the third club, always in the men's and women's categories. In addition, the first and forerunner will be pre-selected to compete in the World Championship, as long as they are FEDME federated on the day of the event.
