The Festivities in Honour of the Tourist were born almost half a century ago to say goodbye to holidaymakers

The arrival of September is synonymous with the end of summer, a concept perhaps forgotten by the youngest; but in the minds of all those who were born in the decade of the 60s and, practically in the 70s, of the last century, when a part of the family left behind their usual home and moved to the beach, taking advantage of the school break typical of these months. The Festivities of La Cala, in Honour of the Tourist, were suggested in line with this way of living the summer and, with this tribute, the residents of Finestrat beach said goodbye with affection and in style to the faithful holidaymakers who had accompanied them during July and August.

This celebration to say goodbye to tourists has been on the calendar for four long decades and, currently, it has become the festivities of this area of the municipality, whose physiognomy has also varied throughout this half century. The residents of La Cala de Finestrat have been joined, for the first time, by those of La Cala de La Vila, and it is their town councils that jointly organize the festivities in this edition.

During the long weekend, from September 13 to 15, different events will be held that are aimed at all audiences and all ages: Bandeta, live music, DJ session, inflatables for the little ones or children's disco are some of the proposals organized to make the Festivities in Honor of the Tourist 2024 unforgettable, having special relevance the tribute to the group El Último de la Fila and that comes from the hand of "Manolos Plateados". This tribute is the first event of the Circuit Valencià Cultural and it has been possible to bring it to Finestrat thanks to the adhesion of the City Council to the framework agreement between the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Valencian Cultural Institute.
