The Font de Carrè park will be renamed Alcalde Miguel Llorca from now on, in recognition of the figure of the one who was the first mayor of Finestrat for 28 years and who, among other projects, approved the design of this urban park that connects the upper and lower part of the municipality. Vegetation and water are the protagonists of this beautiful garden that was opened to the public in 2003. In these two decades, the plants and trees have reached their full potential and today it is a pleasure to contemplate and listen to the sound of the water that flows through the river that crosses it, through its terraces.
Walking or sitting in the Alcalde Miguel Llorca park is the perfect end to the visit of the old town of Finestrat. Contemplating this miniature forest is always a pleasure, especially for those tourists and visitors who seek to find the harmony of nature in the middle of the urban center. Walking among oaks, holm oaks, mulberry trees and other more exotic specimens, such as the erythrin crystal-gali or the charisa speciosa, is a beautiful experience, especially when these last two species are in bloom, which is then a spectacle worth living.
Water is the other great element of this beautiful garden. At its highest point there is a small pond in which a large hand is erected. This sculpture by Pepe Azorín from Alicante is in the shape of a bowl that gives you a drink. This is the starting point of a stream that crosses the park from north to south, with its waterfalls, wooden bridges and the sound of water, which is a constant that accompanies the visitor, who is enveloped by the citrus aromas of the bushes that surround the old farmhouse, today converted into the Museum of Finestrat, which houses the permanent collection of Archaeology and Ethnology.
