Tradition and gastronomy in the historic center for this last weekend of April
Tradition and gastronomy for this last weekend of April in Finestrat. This Saturday sees the inauguration of a new edition of the Gastronomic and Traditional Market, which is held in the streets of the historic centre of this municipality in the Marina Baixa. More than fifty craft stalls, old trades, traditional recipes, music and activities for the little ones make up the program of one of the most visited events of all those held throughout the year.
Walking through the streets of the old town during its celebration is to be able to go back to past times when artisans had an essential role in pre-industrial society. Processing wool, forging iron, working with iron, clay, esparto grass and silver, as well as cooking delicious ancient recipes are some of the activities that can be learned and enjoyed in this ninth edition of the market.
The program of events is designed so that all audiences can participate. Live music, children's mini-disco, human towers, storytelling, animal farms, face painting or a wooden fair are some of the activities that will take place throughout this weekend.
To facilitate travel there will be buses from La Cala, stopping at urbanizations. Departures from La Cala will be at 9:45 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The return from the historic center will be at 2:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
As for parking, the main car park will be set up in the area of the La Foia Sports Centre (sports hall). From there a shuttle bus will leave to the Mercat between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
