Font de Carrè Park is the perfect ending to a visit to Finestrat’s historic centre.
Font de Carrè Park was opened almost at the same time as the 21st century was beginning to dawn. Over these two decades, vegetation has reached its full bloom and today it is a pleasure to contemplate the beauty of its trees and listen to the sound of the water flowing through the river, through its terraces. This park connects the town centre with the sports area and, from 2024, it will also be connected to a pedestrian boulevard that will run around the entire municipality.
Admiring gardens has always been an attraction for tourists seeking the harmony of nature in the midst of the noisy cities they visit. Although Finestrat is a quiet town, it is always nice to take a break along the way to stroll among large trees such as oaks, holm oaks, mulberry trees and other more exotic trees such as the erythrina crista-galli or the chorisia speciosa, which are worth seeing during their flowering season.
Water is another important element in this beautiful garden. At its highest point there is a small pond where a large hand stands. This sculpture by Alicante-born Pepe Azorín is in the form of a drinking bowl. This is the starting point of a stream that crosses the park from north to south, with its waterfalls, wooden bridges and the sound of water, which is a constant that accompanies visitors, who are enveloped by the citrus aromas of the bushes that surround the old farmhouse, now converted into Finestrat Museum which houses a permanent archaeology and ethnology collection.
And, of course, the Puig Campana mountain in the background, imposing, constantly present, accompanying visitors. The stroll comes to an end, but it can be extended even further. Sit on a bench and just enjoy the space again, recharge yourself with positive energy, maybe have a chat and make this moment an unforgettable memory.
